DMACC Credit:    You will receive 4 hours of DMACC Credit upon successful completion of this course.  To Earn DMACC credit, you must take the Final Exams (even Seniors).  You will only receive one letter grade at the end of the course for DMACC.   It will be the average of your 2 terms.    You will also receive 2 credits toward Waukee HS graduation.  You will receive 2 separate grades (1 per term) for the Waukee Credit.

The Drop Date for DMACC Credit is ____________________________.  You may drop DMACC credit and still receive high school credit.   DMACC credit is no charge to you.

Assistance:  I will be available before school for extra help.   If you need help outside these hours, please see me to set up a time.

Classroom Expectations

1.    Be prepared at the beginning of class

A.  Needed materials: book, note-packets, pencil, graph paper, and a TI-83+ or TI-84/84+ calculator.  Make sure your name is clearly marked on the calculator.  If money is an issue, find time to talk with me.

2.    Be in your seat when the bell rings.

3.    Food is not allowed in the classroom.  Water bottles are fine as long as your garbage is properly disposed of.   Litter in the classroom will lead to prohibition of all drinks.

4.    During class

A.    Be attentive listeners

B.    Be active participants in discussion: ask questions!
Always use good organization skills when designing, completing, correcting, and storing assignments and notes

C.    Be good partners or group members.  Don’t be the person who is too good to help someone in need.  Be the leader when you’ve got the tools to lead well.

D.   Strive for understanding during seatwork. Ask questions of me or quietly of a neighbor.  The goal is to learn concepts, not just complete assignments.

E.    No cell phones are permitted for use during class.  Games on your calculator are not permitted.  If you need something to do because you have finished everything, read a book or help someone else that needs it.   Cell phones and calculators that are being used inappropriately will be confiscated.

5.    End of class

A.    My expectation is that you will work up until the bell unless your homework has been completed to my satisfaction.

B.    Remain in your seat unless I have given you permission to be elsewhere.  We will not line up at the door before we leave the classroom…this isn’t elementary school.

Homework:  Homework, while extremely important to your success in this class, will not be a major portion of your grade.   Most problems assigned are odds and you are expected to check your answers prior to coming to class.  I would rather spend class time answering questions on how problems are done, not going through answers.   I will do walk around checks during warm-up time to verify homework is completed.   Homework must be completed on time if you want to take advantage of the test re-take option (see below).

Tests:  There will be a unit test following each chapter.  You may re-take 1 test per term under the following conditions:

     1.    You have completed all homework for the unit
on time, including the review assignment.
     2.    You have completed the notes packet.
     3.    The test must be taken outside of class time,
within 1 week of having the original test returned
          to you.
     4.    The Final Exam may NOT be retaken.

Absences:   If you are gone the day of a test or quiz, the test or quiz must be made up within a reasonable amount of time.     If an absence is planned, the test or quiz must be made up prior to the absence or the day following, as agreed upon by both of us.  ALL quizzes and tests must be made up before the following chapters’ test or quiz.  For example if you need to make up Ch. 2 test, you must get it taken before the chapter 3 test.  Tests will NOT be made up during class.
